The Sechsstädtebund, founded on August 21, 1346, was of particular importance to Löbau.. He secured the land peace.. It included the cities of Bautzen, Görlitz, Zittau, Lauban, Kamenz and Löbau.. In 1429 the whole city burned down, only the Nikolaikirche and the monastery were preserved.. <9> In 1547 Löbau suffered - like the other cities - by the Pönfall (Pönfall penalty) a bitter blow.. The city had to pay heavy fines for disobeying the king and lost all possessions.. Many rights were lost..
