The Piedmont region is also known for its rich culture and history, as well as its natural beauty, ranging from the majestic Alps to the rolling hills and valleys. Neive has a long history dating back to Roman times when the city was known as !Nevium!. In the Middle Ages, Neive was part of the Duchy of Savoy and was founded in the 13th century by the Guidobono family, who ruled the city in the following centuries. During the 16th century, Neive experienced an economic boom when the town became an important trading center for wine and other agricultural products. Over the centuries, numerous historic buildings and churches were built in the city, which have been preserved to this day. Over time, Neive changed its rule several times, from the Savoy to the French and then back to the Savoyard, until it finally became part of the Kingdom of Italy. During World War II, the city was occupied by German troops and suffered from bombings that destroyed numerous historic buildings and parts of the city. After the war, the city was rebuilt and experienced renewed economic growth in the following decades, mainly thanks to viticulture and tourism. Today, Neive is a popular destination for tourists who want to enjoy the city´s rich history and culture, as well as the surrounding countryside and excellent wines. In the Neive region mainly red wines are grown, especially the famous Barbaresco wine. Barbaresco is a DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) wine made from the nebbiolo grape and is known for its complex aromas and tannins. It is considered one of the best red wines in Italy. In addition to Barbaresco, other red wine varieties are also grown in the region, including Barolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. These wines each have their own characteristics and flavor profiles, but all are known for their quality and tradition. There are also a variety of white wine varieties in the region, including Moscato d´Asti, Gavi and Arneis. These wines are very popular among wine lovers and connoisseurs due to their freshness, lightness and aromas. [000.2] - Selected parking spaces |
