- 240 km southeast of Warsaw, in the Lubin Voivodeship, lies the city of Zamosc, which has 65,500 inhabitants.. The old town of the best-preserved Renaissance city in Poland was even included in the UNESCO heritage list.. <9> The creation of this city is very interesting.. Jan Zamoyski, a powerful statesman of the 16th century, studied in Italy and was so impressed by Italian architecture that he wanted to build a city like Padua in Poland.. The architect Bernardo Morando was commissioned to design a fortified city..
