It is a gravel parking lot for the Ebenalp gondola lift. The view of the mountains is terrific. To the gondola diagonally opposite, there is also a train stop where a train goes to Appenzell every 20 minutes and at the end of the parking lot a restaurant with beer garden plus toilet container with hot water. The paraglider landing area is adjacent to the parking lot. We have felt very comfortable here. The location is unbeatable for a hiking, cycling or train excursion. It gets incredibly crowded during the day and especially now during the summer holidays, but all cars leave again by 5pm at the latest. It can happen that there is no place during the day during vacation times. However, an alternative place is offered. 24 hours at the parking machine cost 5 SFR and you get an additional 1 1/2 hours free. A fair price.It is controlled by photographing the license plate of each vehicle and comparing it with the parking meter entries (license plate entry required). The fee is collected directly in the alternative parking spaces. The entire orderly staff was very friendly. We´ll be back for sure.

When we arrived on a Sunday in May at 5:00 p.m., around 90% was still occupied. Also on Monday about 80% occupied (maybe also because of Corona). Not always calm even at night.
