    Berat, the city with probably the most beautiful old town in Albania is also called the city of 1000 windows. The houses cling very closely to the hillside of the castle, the large windows all face the valley and so you can see 1000 windows.
    Within the walls of the castle district there is an old town that is well worth seeing with many small houses, winding alleys and the Onufri Museum with the most beautiful icons in the country.
