    Castelnaudary on the Canal du Midi.

    Thanks to its location on the Canal du Midi, Castelnaudary has long been the center of intensive commercial shipping, which has since been replaced by hobby shipping (houseboats and sailing boats).

    The water area (Grand Basin) formed by the Canal du Midi serves as a reservoir for the four locks of St. Roch and as a base for yachtsmen.

    The place is known for its cassoulet (bean stew), pottery, ceramics and brickworks.
