  • In 1925/26 the School of Design, driven out of Weimar, found a new place of activity in Dessau. The famous Bauhaus building was built according to designs by Walter Gropius. The spacious building complex made of glass, steel and concrete corresponds to the idea of ​​its founder: the form obeys function. <9> The studio wing, workshops, vocational school and stage buildings evidently embody the Bauhaus concept. <9> This idea combined art and technology and set the trend for modern industrial culture. The works of painters and other Bauhaus artists were just as significant as Gropius´ work. The building was damaged in the war.
