    The history of Dinslaken goes back to the Middle Ages. The city was first mentioned in documents in 1273. Over the centuries, Dinslaken developed into an important trading town. The city was known for its cloth production and trade in agricultural products.

    An important historical building in Dinslaken is Dinslaken Castle, also known as Kastell Dinslaken. The castle complex is the nucleus of the city and a popular tourist destination.
