Rodenstein Castle was built in the middle of the 13th century and later expanded with palace buildings and towers. After the Thirty Years´ War it fell into disrepair.
The so-called mill tower from 1346 is the best preserved.

Around 1150 there was a castle here owned by the Lords of Crumpach.
Since 1979 it has been used by the Young Christians Offensive as a meeting place and conference venue.

The Gersprenz is formed here through the confluence of the Mergbach and Osterbach. It flows into the Main after 51 km at Mainhausen-Waldrandsiedlung.

There is no information about the origin. In 1740 it is mentioned that stones from the castle were used for the new school building.
