  • The winegrowing and fishing village (1,300 inhabitants), idyllically situated directly on the shores of Lake Constance, is surrounded by vineyards stretching from the gentle hills all the way down to the lakeshore.. <9> <9> Wine has been grown here since the Romans.. Probably the Celts operated viticulture and the Romans brought refined vines into the country.. <9> <9> In the 17th century, Hagnau had no fewer than 26 torkeln (Weinkelter).. Here wine history was written.. The Winzerverein Hagnau is not only the oldest, but also one of the most successful cooperatives in Baden.. <9> In 1881, pastor and popular writer Heinrich Hansjakob brought the winemakers together to form the first wine cooperative in Baden.. <9> <9> The ´Hagnauer Burgstall´ is one of the most popular sea wines.
