Usedom Island - the ´Bathtub of Berlin´ <9> <9> The island of Usedom is characterized by snow-white beaches, stormy Baltic Sea and sophisticated resort architecture combined with enchanting, quiet nature and dreamy villages in the Hinterlang.. <9> <9> The history of the 445 square meter island goes way back.. Even in the Middle Stone Age tombs were built here, then followed by a thin population, and only in the 19th century Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin - the three imperial baths - were discovered as seaside resorts for the well-to-do.. <9> <9> Things are less classy in the island baths in the north and the amber baths in the center of the island.. Here you can enjoy the unclouded nature.. In the ´Achterwasser´ you will find small lakes, green meadows, unspoilt fishing villages, a lighthouse in front of Peenemünde and a pilot tower at Karnin.. <9> <9> <994/1430617> <994/1203835> <994/1273872>

Mellenthin was built between 1575 and 1580 on behalf of Rüdiger von Nienkerken (Neuenkirchen).
After the fall of communism, the moated castle was privatized in 2001 and expanded into a hotel with a restaurant.
