Rottweil is a city in southwest Germany in Baden-Württemberg and has around 25,000 inhabitants. Here are some interesting facts and details about the city:
Rottweil is one of the oldest cities in Baden-Württemberg and has a long history dating back to Roman times. In the Middle Ages, Rottweil was an important trading town and a member of the Swabian Association of Cities.
One of the city´s landmarks is the 246 meter high ThyssenKrupp test tower. The tower opened in 2017 and is the tallest test tower in the world. Elevators and escalators are tested here.
Another attraction in Rottweil is the Dominican Museum. Housed in a former monastery, it houses a collection of medieval and Renaissance works of art.
The historic old town of Rottweil is also worth a visit. There are many well-preserved half-timbered houses and narrow streets that invite you to stroll and linger.
Rottweil is also known for its Fasnet, a regional variant of carnival that takes place every February. There are numerous parades, events and parties here.
The city is also an important location for the automotive industry, with companies such as Volkswagen and Audi having production facilities here.
