  • First settlement certificates go back to the Remusinsel in the Rheinsberger lake.. During the early German settlement, a new castle complex was built on the eastern shore of the lake.. Castle and town were in the 13. / 14.. Built as a border fortification against Mecklenburg claims century.. After the great fire in 1740, the reconstruction of the city according to plans by Knobelsdorff under the abandonment of the medieval town structure..
