  • Ziegenrück ist ein staatlich anerkannter Erholungsort und liegt genau im Zentrum des Saale-Orla-Kreises zwischen der Bleiloch- und der Hohenwartetalsperre an der Saale.
    Im Jahre 1258 wird der Ort erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und besitzt seit 1328 das Stadtrecht. Der Name Ziegenrück deutet auf eine frühe sorbische Siedlung hin, denn "Czeganrucke" bedeutet Flußschlinge.
