- The Ring of Kerry (Irisc An Mhor Churaid) is a 200 km coastal road on the Ivernagh Peninsula.. It is one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Europe and is one of the highlights of a trip to Ireland..
During a cruise you have spectacular views of the sea, of smaller and larger islands and picturesque rugged cliffs..
The Ring of Kerry has a very well developed infrastructure.. There are numerous smaller and larger villages with pubs, cafes, restaurants, hotels and B & Bs..
During the summer, around 5,000 cars pass the Ring of Kerry per day, which understandably causes significant traffic problems..
The excursion buses are required to go counterclockwise due to the narrow streets (Killarney - Waterville - Kenmare)..
Guides make different recommendations for tourists with their own vehicles that say they also drive counter-clockwise, so you do not have to dodge the buses.. The others say to drive in a clockwise direction, then you do not have to hurry behind the buses.. We drove the buses and they were never in our way - rather the other way around.. The buses bustle from one vantage point to the other and drive quite fast.
