  • Lipica is a cultural monument for Slovenia with a European and world-wide reputation.. On the border with Italy in a lush green oasis with tree-lined avenues that are between 100 and 160 years old, the Stud Farm Lipica has been developing for over four hundred years.. It is the cradle of the Lipizzaners.. Founded in 1580 by Archduke Karl II, the stud belonged to the Viennese court until 1918.. The story is dominated by stories about emperors and rulers who admired the white stallions.. But also about difficult and dangerous times when the stud farm had to flee from war turmoil.. Lipica had to start small again after World War II with just eleven horses.. Today, there are about 230 horses in the stud farm and the numerous guests from all over the world are well prepared.. Many come for the horse shows, but also a hotel complex with casino, nightclub, tennis courts, indoor pool, fitness center and golf are available for the paying guests.. But of course the focus is on riding.. <9> <9> Information: You can tour the stud farm with a guide, or take a self-guided tour with the mobile app.. <9> Visiting the famous stud farm of Lipica is a special experience.. You will learn a lot of interesting facts about the history of the stud.. In the old stud farm and in the Lipizzanermuseum »Lipikum« learns very clearly everything about this great horse breed..
