    Trevélez in the Alpujarra mountains is 1750 m above sea level. M. the highest place in Spain. This unique location is ideal for drying the famous Serrano ham. Throughout the village there are many large houses in which the hams are hung up to dry for up to two years. The longer a ham dries, the more expensive it is sold.
    Trevélez is geared towards tourism and so you can buy the expensive pieces in almost every third house that is marked as ´Museo del Jamón´ (ham ´exhibition´).
