The Wackelwald is located in the immediate vicinity of the spa park of Bad Buchau.. It used to be an ice pond.. It was used in winter to extract ice for cooling the beer cellar of a brewery.. Through reforestation later a spruce forest was created..

Today the Wackelwald is no longer used for forestry purposes.. It evolves naturally to the natural moor forest.. Here you can observe an extraordinary variety of species and structures.. Typical woody plants are moor birch and pine, spruce, rowan, buckthorn and various types of willow..

The trees stand on moorland, originating from the silting up of the glacial spring lake.. That´s why you can experience an extraordinary phenomenon here: with every step, the soft ground bounces.. Let yourself be surprised!
