Historical:

In 1867 the Aryssee was lowered.. This left vestiges of a settlement to light.. Experts ranked them in the early Bronze and Iron Ages, ie 1.000 to 300 BC.. Chr., A..
From 1818 Arys, by the Prussian administrative reform, belonged to the circle of Johannisburg..
The First World War has serious consequences.. From August 21 to September 8, 1914, it is occupied, looted and strangled by Russian troops.. German troops capture them on 7 and 8 September 1914 at the Battle of Arys (part of the Battle of the Masurian Lakes).. From November 1914 to February 1915, Russian troops occupied the city again.. At last the Prussian troops were only able to recapture the city in the ´winter battle in Masuria´..

In January 1945, Arys fell unharmed into the hands of the Red Army.. many houses were set on fire by the soldiers.. The Polish authorities took over the city in August 1945..

The chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is the first Catholic church after the Reformation in Arys..
After the secularization of the Duchy of Prussia (1525) Arys was Protestant.. At the end of the 19th century there was a small Catholic minority, caused by the military training area.. The chapel was opened in 1913 and was under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Johannisburg.. In 1937, there were 151 Catholics in Arys..
