In the historic building dating from 1906, 4,000 square meters of floor space are spread over two floors.. On the one hand, the industrial past should be remembered by illustrating topics such as steelmaking and the social history of ironworkers.. Two large models of the steel works and rolling mill of the Henrichshütte can already be seen.. On the other hand, the hall offers space for art exhibitions, concerts and other large events.. So until 26th February 2017 the exhibition ´Technophilia´ can be seen, showing the works of the engineer, artist and design professor Gerhard Hahn.. A total of 2.9 million euros have been invested in the renovation, 80 percent of which were state funds..

Henrichshütte, founded in 1854, is one of the oldest steelworks in the area.. Up to 10,000 people worked in the various iron and steel production, rolling and forging businesses.. In 1989, the LWL took over the metallurgical plant on the Ruhr as the last of a total of eight locations in its state museum for industrial culture.. On the area is the oldest remaining blast furnace in the area.. A glass elevator leads up to the 55 meter high giant..
