The rock is probably Gibraltar´s main attraction.. For a rock tour, there are several options: scooter, taxi or the cable car.. The tour of the Rock is a bit expensive but very rewarding.. The Cable Car has its starting point at Almeda Park.. A stop at Apes´ Den , one of the most famous inhabitants of Gibraltar, the Barbary apes, should not be missed..
Just below the summit station is the stalactite cave of St. Michael´s Cave , one of about 150 caves in the rock.. Finds prove that these many caves were already inhabited in the Neolithic..

     

Also worth seeing is the extensive tunnel system Great Siege Tunnels , with its cannons to the great siege in the 18th century. remind..

     

Moorish Castle .. The origins are said to go back to the capture by Tarek.. Most of the remains of the wall come from the 14th century.
