Turkey is rich in antiquities.. For our taste one of the most beautiful ancient sites is Phaselis..

One reaches it once by ship, can anchor also in the southern bay or as a tourist country by bus trip or taxi / car in own initiative.. You drive behind Kemer in southern direction and follow the signs..

Phaselis was founded by Greek settlers in 690 BC.. Founded in 1890, it quickly became a rich city, alternating between Persian, Ptolemaic, Seleucid and Roman rule over the centuries.. However, his supremacy as a thriving trading port Phaselis had to cede to Antalya..
Most of the buildings that we can visit today are from the Roman period, a few from the Byzantine period, in which Phaselis was a bishopric..
