deitesfrnlseParking space situation in Greece

Another (vacation) year is coming to an end and there have been numerous reports from Greece drivers about the parking space situation in this beautiful country.

In advance, it should be reminded here again that free standing in GR is generally forbidden, but generally tolerated.

What do you mean in general? It is tolerated provided
1. you are not standing in front of an OPEN campsite. . . Everyone can understand that.
2. you can find the right taverna runner who is happy when someone eats at his place. Often, however, it also happened that the taverna innkeepers preferred to wait for the extended Greek family, which in terms of costs consumed considerably more than the foreign couple. These hosts tend to more or less politely to recommend that you continue your journey.
3. large groups of Womos do not form. A small group of up to (approx.) 4 Womos is more likely to be tolerated than a group of 10 or more. . . .

The problem in GR is simply that the campsites
1. Open late in the season, close early for this
2. often do not meet the minimum requirements of campers
3. are often overcrowded and overwhelmed in the high season due to a lack of capacity.

Furthermore, there is no parking space culture in GR as in other countries (Italy, France, Germany etc.) so that often only that remains free.
That in turn requires a little sensitivity with regard to supply and disposal.
In a hot country which often suffers from a lack of water, it is clearly contraindicated for a motorhome to stand up and WAS the rolling hut. . . .
Even the garbage should not (as unfortunately it is still common among the locals) be brought into nature. . There are large rubbish bins standing around EVERYWHERE that need to be used.

So all of us who are on tour with our rolling holiday homes should make sure that we contribute with behavior and behavior so that things can go on as before for some time.
Because we noticed a noticeable deterioration in terms of ´with each other´ during the current trip around the Peloponnese. . . there were significantly more targeted disturbances of the peace at night, and there were also increasing reports that the local police asked to leave the squares.
Last but not least, the hated ´carpet rods´ are also increasing.

We are also happy to hear of positive reports, so if anyone has good things to say here, please report !!
Thank you!
