Wheel change step by step

Unusually ´spongy´ driving behavior? Usually a significant loss of air in a tire is the cause. But even if the tire has burst: Try to reach a reasonably safe parking space at walking pace with the hazard warning lights switched on. After all, changing a wheel on the side facing the traffic is not entirely harmless!


This is how it is done:

- Secure the vehicle
- Apply the handbrake and engage first gear or . Move the automatic selector lever to position ´P´
- Briefly look at the operating instructions, where the jack is located in the car, how it is to be operated and at which mounting points under the car it is to be placed. There is also more information about ´ - Collect the warning triangle
- Put the hubcap temporarily in the trunk
- Check the air pressure at the next petrol station and retighten the wheel nuts, - Put the hubcap on
- At the next opportunity, check that the wheel nuts are properly tightened in the workshop -Have the torque checked
- when changing from steel to aluminum rims and vice versa, usually
other wheel bolts or wheel nuts must be used! It is best to keep these with the vehicle tools or in the glove compartment! The same applies to ´rim locks´ for theft protection
