Given the occasion, I would like to provide a note for parking space detectors regarding the input of coordinates in the form. If you read out the coordinates from a navigation device and enter them manually in the form, please note that there are three variants of the coordinate display depending on the device:
1. Degree (e.g. N 53, 12345)
2. Degree Minute (e.g. N 53 46, 1234) or
3. Degree Minute Second (e.g. N 53 23 45 )
All three variants can be entered in the form and are processed without any problems. With less experienced users, however, there are often misinterpretations when reading out their GPS or when transferring them to a piece of paper or in the description of the parking space. If the sat nav z. B. outputs variant 2., some think that the minutes 46, 1234 would be the same as 46 12. 34 and it wouldn´t matter how you write or type it. But the deviations (depending on the longitude and latitude) of a few 100 m are serious and the resulting incorrect position can then mean that the parking space is deep in the forest, in the water or at a wrong address. In a parking lot guide of a large publishing house, wrong coordinate values ​​have crept in en masse. The fatal thing about it is that you don´t know whether a certain position is right or wrong. You only notice that when you don´t find anything at the specified position! Mind you, if you use the guide of this publisher!
GOOGLE is a tremendous help with MeinWoMo; with some incorrect entries you can immediately see that the position may not be correct. But it is very time-consuming for the admin to correct these entries or to initiate the correction. We therefore ask you to transfer the values ​​carefully when entering the coordinates. This way we can keep the quality of the portal high.
