At Mizen Head is the small town of Crookhaven, which has a small sheltered harbor.. Marconi sent his first radio message across the Atlantic from here.. Mizen Head is the southwestern tip of Ireland.. You can access the lighthouse and the Mizen Head Visitor Center on the cliff above..
In the 19th century, the village of Goleen was built at a crossroads where livestock housing was held.. There is also a hidden harbor that falls dry at low tide..
One sailing destination is Schull, which attracts festivals and regattas in the summer and has the only planetarium in Ireland.
