Castletownbere is the largest town on the peninsula and with the supermarket, the post office and the laundromat the main supply station on the island.. The place was built in the 19th century with Allihies mine.. At the harbor, the fish trawlers loudly sell their catch at the auctions.. But even in smaller shops you can buy fresh fish.
