Naturreservat Hindens rev
Tour / hiking / bike / ski / Hiking
Hindens Rev is an elongated headland, sometimes only 10 meters wide but 5 kilometers long, jutting into Vänern on its east coast. Formed about 10,000 years ago during the last ice age, when the melting glaciers came to a standstill for a few decades, it is part of a terminal moraine that stretches from Norway to Russia. This natural phenomenon is protected, but can be hiked through from a hiking car park that is already on the headland. Access to the parking lot is via a narrow forest path and is not suitable for large motorhomes. There are information boards at the parking lot about the route of the hiking trail. About a kilometer behind the parking lot you cross the marked boundary of the nature reserve on a narrow path. To the south of the path there are a number of bathing areas on the partly sandy banks of the Vänern, which are often used in warm weather. The further you progress, the narrower both the path and the headland become. The path is easy to walk. In places there are large roots or stones embedded and sometimes you walk for meters over a coarse gravel bed, but this doesn´t significantly reduce the sneaker character of the path.
