Hanseatic city of Wismar <9> <9> First mentioned in documents in 1229, Wismar experienced a varied history.. From 1632 to 1803, the city was in Swedish hands.. Ground plan and plot structure have been preserved since the foundation and the valuable building fabric could be reconstructed or redeveloped.. Wismar was admitted to the Lister UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2002.. <9> <9> <994/988731> <9> <9> When visiting the Hanseatic city of Wismar with its 50,000 inhabitants, it makes sense to start at the marketplace with its magnificent gabled houses.. The twelve-sided pavilion in the style of the Dutch Renaissance was completed in 1602 and supplied about 220 houses and 16 public pots.. It was not until 1897 that the construction was replaced by a more modern supply system.. <9> 4th. The Schabelhaus , a residential and brewing house from the Renaissance, is today seat <9> 5.. the City History Museum , which houses a historic Swedish head from 1672.. Formerly stood two Herkulsesbüsten, the so-called Swedish heads in the harbor entrance.. <9> 6th. the armory was built by the Swedes in 1700, a true masterpiece of architectural craftsmanship (60 by 15 meters);. The roof truss is supported without support only by the outer walls.. <9> seventh. the Nikolaikirche , built from 1381 to 1487, unfortunately still in bad condition.. the unique art treasures are poorly lit and barely signposted.. <9>. 8. St. Mary´s , built in 1270, also in poor condition.. You can see the 700 year old tower, which is visible from the lake.. The nave was blown up in 1960.. <9> ninth. the Holy Spirit Church , built in 1255 with its ornately painted flat ceiling from the 17th century.. By opening the double doors, the patients could attend the service in the outbuilding.. <9> 10th. the St. Georgen church ruin was rebuilt in 2010 <9> 11.. The Rudolph Karstadt department store was built in 1881 in the Krämergasse and formed the foundation for the later group.. <9> 12th.
