The Ring of Kerry (Irisc An Mhor Churaid) is a 200 km coastal road on the Ivernagh Peninsula.. It is one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Europe and is one of the highlights of a trip to Ireland.. <9> <9> During a cruise you have spectacular views of the sea, of smaller and larger islands and picturesque rugged cliffs.. <9> <9> The Ring of Kerry has a very well developed infrastructure.. There are numerous smaller and larger villages with pubs, cafes, restaurants, hotels and B & Bs.. <9> <9> During the summer, around 5,000 cars pass the Ring of Kerry per day, which understandably causes significant traffic problems.. <9> <9> The excursion buses are required to go counterclockwise due to the narrow streets (Killarney - Waterville - Kenmare).. <9> <9> Guides make different recommendations for tourists with their own vehicles that say they also drive counter-clockwise, so you do not have to dodge the buses.. The others say to drive in a clockwise direction, then you do not have to hurry behind the buses.. We drove the buses and they were never in our way - rather the other way around.. The buses bustle from one vantage point to the other and drive quite fast.
